Reiko Watanabe

Born in Tokyo, aged just 15, she was the youngest winner in the history of music competitions in Japan. She has received awards in prestigious international competitions, such as the Premio Paganini and the Viotti Competition, with consequent engagements in Europe, Japan and the United States. A student of Joseph Fuchs, who mentored her through her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Julliard School, she has also studied with Isaac Stern, Nathan Milstein and Josef Gingold. A concert violinist and university teacher, she is often invited to sit on the juries of important competitions. She has recorded for Teldec, Warner, Camerata Tokyo, Avex Classics and Fontec.
