Daniela Terranova is the composer of the commissioned piece that will be premiered during the first round of the competition.
Italian pianist and composer, she was a student of Azio Corghi and Beat Furrer, later specializing in electroacoustic composition with Karlheinz Essl.
Her music has been presented in prestigious concert seasons, such as those of IRCAM (Paris), the London Sinfonietta, the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Musikaliska Concert Hall (Stockholm) and the Gran Teatro La Fenice (Venice); in important international festivals, including Vértice (Mexico City); Barcelona Modern; Ultraschall (Berlin), Milano Musica, the Biennale Musica di Venezia, and in such prominent venues as the Budapest Music Center and the Italian Academy of Columbia University (New York).
He has received numerous national and international awards, including “SIAE - Classici di Oggi”; the prize at the “Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award” (Lugano); the Special Mention for Italian Music “Premio SIAE” (International Composition Competition “Valentino Bucchi,” Rome); the “Nuova Musica alla Fenice” prize (Gran Teatro La Fenice, Venice); the “Monte dei Paschi di Siena” prize (Accademia Chigiana, Siena); and the “Franco Donatoni International Meeting for Young Composers” prize (Divertimento Ensemble, Milan).
Her works are published by Suvini Zerboni/Sugarmusic and, as of 2024, by Casa Ricordi/Universal Music Publishing Classics & Screen. She holds a PhD in Audiovisual Studies and currently teaches Composition at the Conservatory of Trieste.
