The Chamber Ensembles for the Semifinal

In the Semifinal, candidates are required to perform a chamber music piece, joining Quartetto Indaco for performances of quartets by Haydn and Stravinsky, and collaborating with Trio Kobalt and Danusha Waskiewicz for the performance of Schumann’s Quintet.

Quartetto Indaco

Quartetto Indaco is the first Italian quartet to win the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in 2023. Known for its strong communicative energy, the quartet embraces a broad repertoire, with a particular focus on 19th and 20th century composers. As guests at internationally renowned festivals and concert seasons, they have been the ensemble-in-residence at Milano Classica and the Festival Paesaggi Musicali Toscani since 2017.

 

Trio Kobalt

Trio Kobalt was formed at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana under the guidance of Pavel Berman. After advanced studies with the Trio di Parma at the Accademia Perosi in Biella, they continued their training at the CRR in Paris with the Trio Wanderer. Winners of international awards such as the Gasparo da Salò and the Filippo Nicosia, they are the ensemble-in-residence at La Roque d’Anthéron. The Trio performs concerts in Italy and abroad and is a member of Le Dimore del Quartetto.

 

Danusha Waskiewicz

Danusha Waskiewicz, an internationally renowned violist and winner of the ARD Competition in Munich, principal violist of both the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Orchestra Mozart, working extensively with Claudio Abbado. As the violist for the Prometeo Quartet, with which she explores classical and contemporary repertoires, she also performs in duo with pianist Andrea Rebaudengo and partners with cellist Naomi Berrill in the DragonFly project.

 

 

Their participation is part of the broader collaboration between the Premio Paganini and Le Dimore del Quartetto: creative cultural enterprise that since 2015 has been supporting young international chamber music ensembles and promoting cultural heritage inspired by a circular economy approach.
