Kyoko Une

Kyoko Une was born on February 19th, 1977 in Japan. She graduated in violin in 2001 at the Toho Gauken School of Music in Tokyo. She took part in various competitions and placed first at the Kanagawa Young Musician’s Competition (Japan, 1988) at the Kobe International Young Musician’s Competition (Japan, 1998) and at the Tokyo Chamber Music Competition in 1998. She was semifinalist at the Carl Nielsen International Music Competition (Denmark, 2000) and at the Sendai International Violin Competition (Japan, 2001).

In 1999 she performed as a soloist at the Royal Palace Hall in honour of the Empress of Japan. In 2000 she played accompanied by the Toho Gaukuen Orchestra conducted by K. Akiyama. She took part in various festivals in Japan and elsewhere such as: Miyazaki Music Festival (1999), Kurashiki Music Festival (1999, 2000, 2002), Saito Kinen Festival (2000), Bowdoin Summer Music Festival (U.S.A., 1996). She specialized at the "Accademia Chigiana" (1999), at the Paris International Summer Session (2001) and at the Academie International de Musique (Courchevel, 2001).

She took part in masterclasses held by Perlman, Dumay, Bron, Arditti String Quartet on occasion of the Composium in 1998 and the masterclass Juilliard String Quartet in 2001. She studied in Japan with Kobayashi and Nakamura and she is currently studying at the Winterthur Academy of Music in Zurich.
