Dalibor Karvay

“I come from Slovakia, I currently live in Vienna (Austria) where I study with professor Boris Kuschnir. I came to the Premio Paganini because I consider it a really famous international competition. I have competed together with other violinists, and I am trying to achieve a good position. I am quite content with my performance. I have found Genoa a wonderful town”.

Born in Martin, Slovakia, in 1985. He began playing the violin under his father’s guidance when he was three years old. In 1992 he began studying at the Conservatory of Zilina.

Currently he is a student of professor Boris Kuschnir, at the Conservatory of Vienna and at the University of Music in Graz.

He has taken part in various competitions; those where he won first prize are: the 11th Eurovision Competition, Berlin, 2002, where he also received the Grand Prix for Young Musician of The Year; Young Musicians Gathering in Córdoba, Argentina, 1996; International Kocián’s Violin Contest, Ùstí nad Orlicí, Czech Republic, 1993. In 1994 and 1996 he performed in various international festivals, among which the Bratislava Music Celebrations.

As a soloist he has played with renowned orchestras. He has given many concerts all around the world.
