Since 1984 Jens Ellermann has been professor of violin at the University of Music and Drama Hanover and taught for many years in the United States. Born in Hamburg, he gave many master-classes at the Aspen Music Festival (U.S.A.), in Liechtenstein and at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and has been jury member in many competitions.

Ellermann studied with Eva Hauptmann, Alberto Lysy and Walter Levin. He was later violin teacher at the Universities of Cincinnati and Ohio and at the Juilliard School of New York.
