Kristina Kappelin has been Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer of Villa San Michele and Honorary Consul of Sweden since 2018. She is a writer and journalist, well known in her home country as the Italian correspondent for Swedish public television (SVT).
After earning a degree in Humanities from Lund University and a Master’s in Journalism from the University of Gothenburg, in 1984 she was awarded a scholarship at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna.
She then decided to remain in Italy to pursue her career as a journalist. Her many years of experience in the country have inspired several books, including Berlusconi – italienaren, for which she received the Johan Hansson Prize in 2011, Sweden’s most prestigious nonfiction award.
