Hyun-Su Shin

“I have learnt a lot from my sister A-Rah that participated to this competition three years ago and was awarded the fifth prize. Having understood the importance of this competition, I decided I wanted to try it, too”.

Born in Seoul in 1987. She is currently studying with professor Nam Yun Kim at the Korean National University of Arts. Among the various competitions where she has won prizes: in 1996 she obtained the Grand Prix at the Violin Competition Honam Arts; in 1997 she got the first prize at the Korean Newspapers Music Competition, playing with the Seoul Municipal Symphonic Orchestra. In 1999 she won the first prize E-Wha Kyung Hyang Newspaper Music Competition. In 2001 she received the Grand Prix at the Korean Young Musicians Competition and finally in 2003, she won the first prize at the Johansen International Competition in Washington. She has played with many orchestras, for example the Seoul Municipal Symphony Orchestra, the KNUA Youth Orchestra and the America National Philharmonic Orchestra.
