Genoa celebrates 240 years from the birth of Paganini

In the occasion of 240th anniversary since the birth of Niccolò Paganini, recognised as anniversary of "National Interest" by the Presidency of Council of Ministers, municipality of Genoa presents the 57th edition of the International Violin Competition “Premio Paganini”, which will also be presented in Paris, next November 3rd.

Rules of the 57th edition and the application procedure are now available online. Entrants will have time to fill out the application form until 12.00 (Italy time zone) of the 20th February 2023. The competition will take place in Genova from 16 to 27 October 2023.

The anniversary of the birth of Paganini is also an occasion to nominate  “Paganini Ambassadors”, who will operate by spreading and promoting the Prize and universal values of music, in Italy and abroad. “Paganini Ambassadors” are: Aimone di Savoia-Aosta, Silvain Bellenger, Jos Bendinelli Negrone, Giacomo Cattaneo Adorno, Enrico De Barberi, Caterina Fasolini, Yasonuri Gunji, Gianni Letta, Giovanni Malagò, Niccolò Paganini, Maria Cristina Piaggio, Ermindo Polidori Luciani, Nuria Sanz Gallego.

A postage stamp - pertaining to the theme series "Artistic Patrimony and Italian Culture" - will also be presented, dedicated to the 240th anniversary of the birth of Niccolò Paganini, realised by the Ministry of Economic Development in collaboration with the Poste Italiane and the IPZS.

For this special recurrence, Paganini's music will be diffused in the streets of the city centre and the entrance to the Paganini Rooms in Palazzo Tursi will be free of charge. Ttickets can be collected from the Bookshop at via Garibaldi 25. It will also be possible to visit the Museum of Strada Nuova with reduced tickets for one whole day.
