Gianfranco D’Amato, born in Naples in 1959, holds a degree in Economics from the University of Naples Federico II.
Together with his brother Antonio, he leads the Seda International Packaging Group, which operates 13 plants and employs 3,000 people across Europe and America in the production of paper food packaging, supplying some of the world’s leading global food brands.
A passionate collector of modern and contemporary art, he is a member of the Modern and Contemporary Art Committee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the David Rockefeller Council of MoMA in New York, the Executive Committee of the Rebecca Horn Moon Rower Foundation in Germany, the Olgiati Foundation in Switzerland, and the Magazzino Italian Art Museum in New York.
Alongside his passion for art, he also nurtures a deep love for nature. On the island of Capri, he founded the association L’Oro di Capri, dedicated to restoring the island’s ancient olive groves and promoting environmental protection and awareness.
Since 1991, he has been a registered journalist. Between the 1980s and 1990s, he published more than forty reports on topics related to anthropology, nature, and the underwater world.
